On the 20th of July, 2014 Abuja Gospel Artist Forum (AGAF) in collaboration with Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers of Nigeria(FOGMMON) put together a memorial service to honor the memories of legendary gospel singers Kefee and Pastor John Ibro. The event which was anchored by Pastor Mo aka Madmo boasted a kaleidoscope of gospel music icons in Nigeria which include among others, Asu Ekiye(FOGMMON President), Solomon Lange, Omenesa, Six foot plus, Effizy, CeeDee and Chris Morgan.

Kefee Obareki who is popularly known for her signature songs ‘Branama’ and ‘Kokoroko’ died on the 13th of June after being in coma for about 3weeks. She was buried by family and friends in Delta State on the 11th of July, 2014. The news of her death is still a shock to many.

The second gospel legend whose life was also celebrated is late Pst. John Ibro. Pastor John Ibro was a seasoned gospel singer and preacher whose work and support have contributed greatly to the growth of the gospel music industry in Nigeria. He died on the 30th of June. He is survived by a wife and 4 children. One of which turned one year on the same day he was buried.

Given their enormous contribution to Gospel music, AGAF saw the need to celebrate their well spent lives and also use the opportunity to state their commitment to upholding the honor and right of gospel artists all around Nigeria. Opportunity was given to many artists who were available at the event to pick up a membership form. (More details on AGAF soon).

Late Kefee and Pst. John were fondly remembered as tributes were paid to them via songs, poem and speeches.

May their soul rest in perfect peace and their memories will live on in our hearts.

Adieu Kefee and Pst. John Ibro.
