#Inspiration: When 'SUCCESS' becomes the only option- Thomas Edison and others.

I came across this today and I decided to post it as today motivational moment for my blog reader to read and meditate on.

Read it below....

Failure is the highway to success. Tom Watson Sr. said, "If you want to succeed, double your failure rate." If you study history, you will find that all stories of success are also stories of great failures. But people don't see the failures. They only see one side of the picture and they say that person got lucky: "He must have been at the right place at the right time."

Let me share someone's life history with you. This was a man who failed in business at the age of 21 ; was defeated in a legislative race at age 22; failed again in business at age 24; overcame the death of his sweetheart at age 26; had a nervous breakdown at age 27; lost a congressional race at age 34; lost a senatorial race at age 45; failed in an effort to become vice-president at age 47; lost a senatorial race at age 49; and was elected president of the United States at age 52.

The Federal High Court today ordered the State Security Service (SSS) to apologise to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and to pay him N2 million in damages for unlawfully detaining him last November during the Anambra gubernatorial election.

The events took place on 15 and 16 November 2013, when SSS officials detained and harassed the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory at the Finotel, Awka.

#Nigeria@54 - This is the most effective way to celebrate!

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” - George Orwell

"The most effective way to build people is to aid and revive their own understanding of their history." - Mercy Ebute.

Feeling great that I made such a great quote on history but I only said what George Orwell meant the other way. We cannot truly celebrate our Independence, if we are denied the understanding of history. The appreciation of the people and events that led to the present freedom we enjoy, will help stir us to celebrate. Pictured above is then Nigeria's new prime minister Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and the British representative James Robertson in the moment of Nigeria's independence, 1st October, 1960. Seeing this photo puts me in a celebration mood for #Nigeria@54.

If you listen to my music, you would notice that politics has been part of me; it’s in my blood. When I started initially, I talked about being your brother’s keeper, and that’s why I studied Law at Lagos State University before I dropped out to concentrate on my music career. A must read: Comedian Gordon reveals his success secret.

Popular comedian, Gordons got hundreds of University of Lagos students misty-eyed last Thursday as he narrated his inspiring journey to success while performing at the Lagos finale of Amstel Malta Showtime concert drama “The Rush”.

The former DC Envoys star, who has risen to become one of Nigeria’s most decorated comedians, told guests that education alone does not guarantee success.

“In spite of all you read and who you want to be, if you really want to be successful you need to put to work your talent and it’s totally free… Some people were born with silver spoon, some with golden spoon but I was born with nothing; yet, I helped myself through university… but today I don’t drive what I drive by my degree neither am I staying where I stay by my degree, I got it all by putting my talent to work,” he told the students.

Gordons, the first Nigerian comedian to be featured on CNN, became his family’s breadwinner at the young age of 12, by fishing and trading to make ends meet.

These are the irreconciliable issues leading to Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose's divorce

Read Omojuwa's funny tweet on Hollywood divorce yesterday, and I thought who is it this time around. Didn't get the info early but few minutes afterwards, my radar fell on Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose.

Yesterday, the news  of their divorce came as a shock to many, especially those who had perceived their marriage to be 'wonderful'. Giving irreconcilable differences as the issue is not new in the celebrity divorce terrain, but what these issues are could vary.

For Wiz and Amber according to fresh report on TMZ, these differences are hinged on Infidelity. Amber Rose says she is sure of Wiz's infidelity and Wiz is also suspicious of hers.

Wiz Khalifa's refusal to carry her on his tour is also a pointer to justify her claims, what else can be responsible for his refusal, Amber wonders! He feels she should sit home and take good care of their 1 year old daughter, while he goes out there to fend for the family especially that he is the family's bread winner, this comes across to Amber as domineering and makes little or no sense to her.

Well, Wiz who sees Amber as being a nagging queen, is also holding on strong to Nick Cannon's side of the story and have said Amber Rose allegations against him, is in the bid to cover up her own side of infidelity, according to a new report on TMZ, they are both alleging infidelity.

Are these issues truly irreconcilable?

That one STEP that changes everything!

First step
Once upon a time when we took our first steps in life – we really risked everything, we didn't even know what a step was, but as we watched grown-ups move around us, in ways that look magically, we craved for it. Naturally, with some anxiety and uncertainty we all pushed for that first step that got mummy and daddy really excited. A step that got us up from the ground to a world of soaring possibilities.

It’s not that we gave up crawling all at once, it was still a fairly decent way to get around, but after a number of trials we found out that the “other way” definitely had its advantages and taking another step will change everything.

We are a step away from the Change we so dearly want to see. Keep moving........ Thanks for hanging out with Mercy today.

Disabled people seek rightful place in government as they endorse Sani for Senate in Kaduna.

Persons living with disabilities in Kaduna State have endorsed Shehu Sani to run for Kaduna Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 election.

Mukhtari Saleh, who spoke on behalf of the disabled persons when Sani visited their home in Kaduna, said because he has chosen to identify with the poor, his ambition of becoming a senator would certainly become a reality.

“We have always been accused of disturbing people with begging but the truth is that if we have something worthwhile to do, we will stop begging. We have been neglected and marginalised because we don’t have any representative in government, so we shall continue to beg until our plights are looked into and we are given our rightful place in government,” he said.

A must read: Don't Spill Their Blood By Dele Agekameh

The death sentence passed on 12 soldiers for mutiny on 16th of September, 2014, is now common news in Nigeria and all over the world.  Since this incidence, many Nigerians have risen to plead that their lives be spared. This article by Dele Agekameh is about the most articulated and well written I have read on the #SaveOurSoldiers campaign.

DON'T SPILL THEIR BLOOD:
It has almost become a recurring decimal in our national history. Every now and then, there are upheavals in our security agencies, particularly the military and to a large extent, the army. During the military era, from 1966-1999, except for the brief interlude between 1979 and 1983, military uprisings in the form of coup d’etats, were regular features of our political life in Nigeria as one group of military adventurers upstaged another in a rat race to control the levers of political power. In the political chess game, much blood was spilled. Continue
