The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday devoted its mee-ting to discussions on the nation’s 54th independence anniversary.

Information Minister Labaran Maku, who briefed journalists after the meeting presided over by Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, said the council deliberated on activities lined up for the anniversary as presented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.

He said the anniversary would begin Friday with jumaa’t prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja, and would be followed by inter-denominational Christian prayers at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, on Sunday.
Maku said President Goodluck Jonathan would make a national broadcast at 7:00 am Wednesday after which a Change of Guards ceremony would hold at the State House. The minister said the anniversary would end with a dinner at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
