#PATRIOTISM: 10 Ways To Celebrate Nigeria’s Independence.

It is widely believed there are 3 most important days in everyone’s life: 1. Your birthday 2. Marriage day 3. Death day. In addition to that, the day that marks one’s National independence/Freedom is also a very key day to mark. All of the three events mentioned above most likely happened or will happen in your home country. If there is no Nigeria, there won’t be Nigerians and if there is no independent Nigeria, there will be enslaved Nigerians. The freedom we have today is worth celebrating.

The tips below will aid you in having a remarkable patriotic celebration as we mark the 55th birthday of our dear country Nigeria. Like I always say, you can make the difference in making this country great. Continue to read after the cut..........

#MustRead: Quotes On Patriotism

Hello All,

I believe we had a nice weekend. To kick off this week, I have some quotes on Patriotism to keep our minds on our envisioned Nigeria. Read them below:

  • Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it.
  • A man’s country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers and woods, but it is a principle; and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.
  • Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.
  • A politician will do anything to keep his job, even become a patriot.
  • Equal rights for all, special privileges for none.
  • He loves his country best who strives to make it best.
  • There is nothing wrong with Nigeria that cannot be cured by what is right with Nigeria.
  • Men love their country, not because it is great, but because it is their own.
  • A man’s feet must be planted in his country, but his eyes must survey the world.
  • Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better.

This week, don’t litter your environment, don’t jump queues, obey traffic rules; be Patriotic. Keep these up till they become a habit, then you can correct someone around you who is doing otherwise; spread the word, let’s give Nigeria a whole new culture. The evidence that we see a new nation reflects in what we do. Let’s do things right; one step at a time, and we will see the Nigeria that we desire. It’s in our hands! #BeTheChangeYouWantToSeeInNigeria.

#MustRead: Core Value 6 - LIBERTY by Bobby Udoh

To see positive change in our country Nigeria, I believe a good number of Nigerians have a role to play and in order to do that, we will need a change of mindset and attitude towards national issues.

In my campaign to drive patriotic act, I find Bobby's nation building digest very relevant in helping Nigerians to build a new mindset for a New and better Nigeria. Have been following his article on Core values and I also share his monthly release on my blog. Read his September Digest below:

After studying the attitude of Nigerians for years now as part of my nation-building work, I wrote an article titled "Core Values: The Missing Ingredient". In that article, I posited that: Continue after the cut.........

#MinisterialList: Worth the wait?

Like a groom who awaits his bride, Nigerians have waited not patiently on President Buhari for the unveiling of his ministerial list. In what seems to be an end of the wait, sources at the Department of State Security in the early hours of the week revealed some names that made the ministerial list and according to the source, they have also undergone screening by the DSS. Check the list below and see if the waiting was worth it.

The ministerial list include Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, frontline Economist Pat Utomi, former Nigerian Breweries MD Festus Odimegwu, former Osun state governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Former MD of the Federal Inland Revenue, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru, Former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Dambazu rtd, former Legal Adviser of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change CPC Abubakar Malami(rtd) and former Commissioner for DFFinance in Lagos state, Wale Edun.

However, the nominees are yet to give any confirmation on the supposed screening which may not be far-fetched from the fact that appointments of this nature are treated cautiously in the official circle.

DSS sources said the ministerial nominees concluded their screening last week Friday September 11th.

#MustRead: Nation-Building Through Patriotism

Patriotism creates a common platform and understanding for people of different races and beliefs in a country to work together in a positive and constructive manner in nation-building activities.

This is possible as those with patriotic hearts will always be willing to trade off their comfort for the sake of the country’s interest.

The spirit of patriotism will also permeate positive values and instill good ethics in all walks of life. Indirectly, this will drive off all sorts of negative influences which could possibly bring damage to the national agenda.

In addition, loyalty to the homeland will ensure enemies of the state stay away from the border fence as people will fight tooth and nail to keep the sovereignty and dignity of their nation intact.

There is so much we can achieve together for the good of our land. Stay tuned.........

The Nigerian Air Force says it has destroyed some solar panel jets owned by Boko Haram in Gamboru-Ngala in Borno state. A statement signed by Air Commodore Dele Alonge, Director of Air Force Public Relations said the solar panels were used to generate electricity for the sect members in Sambuisa forest

"The targets, which include solar panels believed to be used by the sect for generating electricity within the Sambisa forest, were hit during the recent take-over of Gamboru-Ngala by own troops.”  Source: LIB
