Nigerians have embraced a better future - Lai Mohammed.

The minister of information, Lai Mohammed has said that Nigerians have made the right choice by breaking away from the past to embracing a better future.

The minister was apparently referring to the decision of Nigerians to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and vote out incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 election.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the minister said this on Wednesday, January 27 in Abuja at a workshop on conflict sensitive communications and reporting.

Mohammed said: “The good news is that Nigerians across faiths, tribes, age groups and income levels have made a choice to break from the past and embrace a future free from insecurity, corruption and poverty.”

Concerning the ongoing war against terrorism, the minister said tagging Boko Haram as an Islamic group had the tendency to alienate Muslims all over the world.

He said the group was only interested in unleashing terror due to its hatred for democracy and that Muslims and Christians were not discriminated when unleashing terror.

He promised that the new government was committed to fighting terrorism and corruption which has put the country in a financial disadvantage.

“We are not alone on this path. Across the globe, Nigeria – under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari – continues to enjoy the goodwill and support of big nations and organisations, all of which want to see us free from the scourge of terrorism and corruption. “
