House of Reps explain why they haven't forwarded details of the 2016 budget to Buhari

The House of Representatives has issued a statement explaining why they have not forwarded the details of the 2016 budget to President Buhari, an action that has prevented Buhari to sign the budget into law.The chairman House Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin‎, in the statement released today, said the practice of witholding the budget for a few days or weeks by the National Assembly has always been there and that due to the fact that the "padded" budget was presented to them late, they need time to scrutinize the details. The statement in part reads:

“The general public should note that the MTEF and 2016 budget proposal came to NASS very late. You will also recall that a lot of dust was raised over different versions of the budget circulated in the national assembly. Further, some ministers disowned the content of the budget during defence before NASS.

In Kogi: Police seal Assembly complex following crisis.

Kogi State House of Assembly complex was yesterday sealed off by security agents on the orders of the National Assembly following the protracted leadership crisis rocking the House.

This came as Governor Yahaya Bello of the state, denied any crisis in the Assembly, saying the House had been carrying out its normal legislative activities without disruption or external interferences. But contrary to the governor’s claim, the main entrance to the assembly complex was barricaded, by heavily armed policemen, preventing factional members billed to conduct ministerial budget screening from accessing the complex.

Fresh uncertainty over 2016 Budget.

Another cloud of uncertainty is hanging over the 2016 Budget estimates approved by the National Assembly last Thursday as the Appropriation Bill may not be signed into law for full implementation any time soon.

Instead, there may ensue a showdown between the Presidency and the National Assembly on the budget. Investigations by Vanguard had revealed that the lawmakers may have played a fast one on the Presidency by transmitting only the highlights of the budget and kept the details in their custody. Release of the budget highlights without details makes it difficult for President Muhammadu Buhari to know what adjustments were made by the lawmakers.

GENCOs, DISCOs appeal to Nigerians to be patient, as power generation drops further.

Millions of Nigerians had their Easter celebrations in darkness as power generation yesterday dropped further to 2,620 megawatts.

Meanwhile, generation and distribution companies in the country have asked for more time and patience from Nigerians to improve electricity supply.

Their plea came as they identified weak transmission network as a major hindrance in the attainment of the 10,000 megawatts target set by President Muhammadu Buhari to be achieved in 2019. The Executive Director, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, ANED, Mr. Sunday Oduntan, believes the President’s target is achievable, even though it was targeted at the twilight of this administration.

Nigeria vs Egypt - How Nigerians risked their lives to watch it live(photos)

Ifreke Inyang list 5 lessons from Nigeria vs Egypt match

1. It is not a Good Friday for the Eagles
This is one painful result for Samson Siasia and his boys. They were three minutes away from grabbing a famous 1-0 win against Egypt, only to concede a late, late goal.

2. Nigeria still stand a chance
It was not a totally disastrous performance by the Eagles. The Egyptians heavily relied on Mohamed Salah’s pace and invention on the break, which didn’t yield much throughout the game. Mohamed Elneny was silent, as John Mikel Obi put in an exemplary performance on his first outing as captain. If Siasia tweaks the team a bit, they might cause an upset in Alexandria on Tuesday.

“Not in the mood to say same to you?”

#ItIsFnished - Do Have A Good Friday.

With the words it is finished, He gave up the ghost. At His death, the earth became dark and trembled, his tormentors then realized "this must be the true messiah." From torture to the tomb, He took it all for you and I. He established all of God's goodness in our lives and that's what Good Friday is  all about. The death that brought us life.

As we mark the day, I pray that you have fullness of life in Christ Jesus. He declares #Itisfinished over all of your pain and limitations.

Happy Good Friday!

Breaking News: Judge hands-off Saraki’s suit over alleged N2bn bribe.

Owing to allegation that N2billion bribe was traced to his bank account, Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, disqualified himself from a suit seeking ‎to stop the ongoing trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT. Though the suit was scheduled for Judgement, however, Justice Kafarati, said he was left with no option than to hands-off the matter after his attention was drawn to two online publications alleging that he has been compromised by the Senate President.

‎The judge bemoaned that his integrity was gravely “maligned” in two separate reports carried by Sahara Reporters and, which he said claimed that the N2bn was traced to his account by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. “The two publications made allegations against my person, alleging that I have been compromised with N2bn. They also alleged that I am known in the legal cycle for being susceptible to corruption. “What this has done is to put my integrity to question. I however regard the publishers as people of unsound mind. They know that what they said is not true. They just derive ‎pleasure when they malign the integrity of a judicial office.
