
Turkish resident in Germany yesterday came out en mass in a support march for Turkish president, Recep Tyyip Erdogan. While there is an estimated number of 3million Turkish in Germany, about 35,000 people stepped out for the rally.
Plans by Mr Erdogan to address the rally via video was cancelled, following Germany's Constitutional Court judgement, banning the speech from being broadcast.
"We are here because our compatriots in Germany advocate democracy and are against the attempted military coup," Turkey's German-born Sport and Youth Minister Akif Cagatay Kilic said in Cologne.
A message by Mr Erdogan, thanking the demonstrators for their support, was read out.
