Southern Kaduna Killings: It is not right for government to keep quiet – Pastor Sarah Omakwu

Following the declaration by Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to mark yesterday Sunday 8th January 2017 as National mourning day for victims of Southern Kaduna killings, Christians were seen all over the country mostly dressed in black as they attend their various worship services.

The Senior Pastor of Family Worship Centre church, Pastor Sarah Omakwu all dressed in black during the church’s service took out time to share her pains as regards the needless killings in Southern Kaduna. Nigeria is a circular state so people should be allowed to live in any part of the country they choose to live in. Christians and Muslims should learn to cohabit she said.

Speaking further, she said it is not right for leaders not to show concern for the lives of those they govern and it is absolutely wrong for any government to keep quiet amidst the killing of its people.

President Buhari was voted in by Christians and Muslims. It is time for the President to put action to the line in his inaugural speech, which he said “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody.”

Recall that in the released public statement declaring Sunday 8th January, 2017 as mourning day for victims of southern Kaduna killings, the President of CAN Rev Ayokunle described as unacceptable President Buhari’s silence in the face of the attacks against Christians in Kaduna state. While commending the President for his effort in stemming Boko Haram’s activities, CAN implored both the State and Federal Government to increase their efforts in ending the killings.

The killings which are suspected to be due to violence between the locals and migrating Fulani herdsmen is said to have claimed over 800 lives which includes a family of eight siblings.

We continue to pray for the end of these needless killings and ask that the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.

May peace reign in Nigeria.
