A Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of an Abuja based civil engineering company, Mr. Moses Godia Shipi has declared that the company has the capacity to address the 17 million housing deficit plaguing the Nigerian nation if the Federal Government is willing to partner with the company

Mr. Moses Shipi, MD/CEO of La-Shipson Construction Company made this declaration Wednesday in Abuja during an interview with New-Nigeria Reporters 

Mr. Shipi who stated that it is no longer news that Nigeria has over seventeen million (17million) housing  deficit with an estimated increase of 900,000 annually, warned that the Federal Government must, as matter of urgency, deploy the necessary tool to commence addressing this housing challenges before it becomes an incurable problems in the country. 

Mr. Shipi maintained that La-Shipson Construction Company believes that for Nigeria to bridge the housing deficit gap, the following areas must be urgently addressed; 1. The current N18,000 minimum wage must be reviewed upward; 2. Mortgage interest rates should be reduced through proper legislation; 3. Improve the mortgage institutions through favourable legislations; 4. Create accessible land ownership system through the land tenure system; 5. Enhance private sector involvement through encouraging private sector partnership; 6. Availing soft housing loans for workers directly through construction or mortgage institutions. 

According to Mr. Shipi, until Nigeria raise to the housing challenges plaguing the nation, it plans to top the world economy by the year 2020 would not be actualised. 

Mr. Shipi boasted however that La-Shipson Construction Company is ready and willing to partner with the Federal Government to upturn this ugly development if called upon, stressing that the onus of developing the nation lies upon every Nigerian.

He called on the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) and other relevant agencies to put more efforts in ensuring that the Federal Government overcome the housing challenges threatening the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.
