MustRead: What does it mean to be Nigerian?

Image result for photos of nigerians
It is probably easier for a child to fly a spacecraft to the moon than for any Nigerian to define what a "Nigerian identity" is.

This is something citizens of Nigeria have been grappling with since the West African country gained independence in 1960.

This is partly historical, and partly a result of continuous skewed governance structures and unaccountable governments.

My Nigeria: Going beyond cliches
Pre-1960 Nigeria was a forced entity created by British colonialists and made up of strong, pre-colonial, independent nation states. After independence, there has not been a conscious effort to build a society based on fairness, equity and justice.

Photos From Hilarious "Bending and Bonding" Stage Play

Highlighting the thin line between extremism and moderatism, fake and real, love and hate, "Bending and Bonding" is a hilarious stage play that spells it all out.

Full of romance, suspense and intrigue,  the drama tells the story of a couple in love but intolerant of each other for the difficult times they faced. A feminist who had taken her feminism out of proportion and a Pastor who seemingly had a solution to their problems but was himself a huge  problem. The PG 18 play is  a comic relief and holds a myriad of lessons.

The show was held on Saturday and Sunday 11th and 12th November, 2017 at the Merit House, Maitama ,  Abuja. A production of Debbs Media and it was  directed by Abuja foremost blogger Stanley Chukwuemeka Okereafor.  See photos from stage play after the cut.........

Must Read: Where is the Nigerian Tribe?

As a matter of urgency, we need to identify key factors that impede our growth and development as a nation in order to adequately address them and move ahead. The tribe issue as analyzed by a mentor Bobby Udoh is one of such issues that should be looked at critically. Indeed where is the the Nigerian Tribe? Read  the article by Bobby Udoh below:

A careful study of the various crises that have continued to hinder our national journey towards true development has shown the lack of a Nigerian Tribe. What we have is the various tribes competing for influence and dominance.

The tribe culture has become so well grounded that we now see tribes being formed in every sector. Name any activity (trade, leisure, crime, etc) and you will see a well run tribe already in place with a powerful leadership. Every citizen belongs to more than one tribe.

In other for us to understand this post better, it is pertinent to define a tribe. Reason being, like many things, the definition has progressed over the years.
